Points of Return: Projects

Films of Return may be over in its original form, as a virtual festival; but the project continues. The festival website has now been integrated into our curatorial site – pointsofreturn.org – where it serves as an archive-catalogue. A collection of films, film-excerpts, stills and director statements.

Curatorial Timeline:

Points of Return (Online, 2022)

Launched in 2022 following a months-long juried Open Call, the inaugural virtual edition of Points of Return featured twenty-five artists across six themed Viewing Rooms. The exhibition presented documentation of climate-focused works in diverse voices and disciplines, ranging from printmaking to installation.

The virtual exhibition remains online at: pointsofreturn.org

Points of Return (Massachusetts, USA, 2023)

In 2023, the project took physical form at The Umbrella Arts, Massachusetts. Twenty-seven international artists explored the climate emergency through a large-scale immersive exhibition, offering creative responses and nature-based strategies. The programme included tours, talks, and screenings in three theatre spaces.

Films of Return (Online, 2025—)

This year, we focussed on film and video art, bringing together over 60 international artists and directors in a virtual festival. The collection now serves as a catalogue-archive of urgent ecological stories and practical paths to repair, told through moving image. Future events are planned, and venue proposals welcome: info@alaluz.org.
